The Reform Party expresses deep concern over the recent misuse of the name of Mr. Jim Rogers, a well-known international investor, in the context of South Korea’s presidential election. Although public claims were made asserting his support for a particular candidate, Mr. Rogers himself has explicitly refuted these allegations, describing them as “a complete fraud.”

This incident is not a diplomatic misunderstanding. At its core, it reflects an attempt to invoke foreign figures to manufacture domestic political legitimacy — a practice that undermines the sovereignty of Korean democracy and the authority of its citizens.

Such actions do not remain confined within national borders. In today’s interconnected world, political communication resonates far beyond domestic audiences — it signals the health of a nation’s institutions to global investors, partners, and observers.

Groundless claims and symbolic name associations erode confidence, deepening skepticism toward Korean politics and damaging Korea’s credibility abroad.

The Reform Party unequivocally condemns the use of foreign figures’ names in political campaigns based on falsehoods. This is not merely a factual error, but a violation of the principles that undergird a functioning democracy — truth, accountability, and informed public judgment.

To rely on the borrowed authority of international voices is to abdicate the responsibility to earn legitimacy through one’s own convictions and vision.

The Reform Party believes that Korea’s political legitimacy must stand not on borrowed prestige, but on the foundation of democratic principles and the trust of its own people.

We maintain that authentic leadership and transparent institutions are the starting point of international credibility. To that end, we propose a practical agenda — institutional reform, regulatory clarity, and sustainable systems in welfare and education — as the basis for long-term trust and cooperation.

What Korea needs to become a trusted global partner is not new endorsements, but new standards.

The Reform Party is committed to setting that standard.
